Motion Sensors

Motion Sensors refer to the electronic measurement devices used to track a surfboard’s movement, acceleration patterns, angular velocity, tilt changes and dynamic response during real surfing conditions. They capture high-resolution data that reveals how the board flexes, twists, accelerates, stabilises or loses energy through different sections of the wave.

Their behaviour depends on sensor placement, sampling rate, waterproof housing and how the recorded motion integrates with GPS Tracking, Pressure Mapping, Performance Metrics and broader Performance Testing Workflows. Motion sensors support accurate evaluation of turning response, flex behaviour, stability events, micro-adjustments and overall board performance.

Shapers and testers refine motion-sensor usage through calibrated placement, reading interpretation and data-driven construction decisions that maintain responsiveness, feedback and overall performance control.
