Tail Drive refers to the surfboard’s ability to generate forward thrust, projection and hold through the tail when the surfer applies pressure during turns or acceleration lines. Strong tail drive gives the board power, push-through capability and control in steep or fast-moving sections.

Its behaviour depends on tail geometry, fin configuration, rail engagement, and bottom contour transitions. These elements define how efficiently the board converts downward pressure into propulsion and how much drive it maintains when exiting turns.
