Cad Shaping

CAD shaping refers to the use of computer-aided design software to model surfboards with millimetric precision, enabling shapers to refine curves, volumes and hydrodynamic transitions in a fully controlled digital environment. By defining rocker profiles, rail flow, thickness distribution and bottom contours within CAD software, shapers can iterate designs rapidly and reproduce boards with exact repeatability.
CAD shaping works in tandem with hand finishing techniques, CNC machining and outline geometry, forming a hybrid workflow that blends craftsmanship with engineering-level accuracy. This approach improves consistency, scalability and performance testing, supporting prototyping, team-rider feedback loops and large-scale production.
Shapers refine CAD-based surfboard models through tuned outlines, foil balance and material or construction choices that maintain responsiveness, feedback and control.
