Fin Base Length

Fin base length is the measurement of a fin where it meets the board’s bottom. A longer base increases drive and straight-line speed by carrying pressure along the rail, while a shorter base pivots more easily for tighter turns. Shapers tune base length together with fin cant, fin toe-in and fin placement to balance projection, responsiveness and rail engagement.
