Cyclic Load Testing

Cyclic load testing evaluates a surfboard’s fatigue resistance and flex stability under repeated loading and unloading. Standard protocols vary amplitude, frequency, and dwell to measure stiffness retention, hysteresis, rebound time, and long-term shape recovery. Results inform flex memory ratings and guide layup decisions alongside layer sequencing. Instrumented rigs with IMUs and strain measurement feed surfboard data tracking systems for comparable, repeatable metrics across prototypes and constructions.
Shapers refine test protocols to align lab signals with in-water feel, ensuring durability without sacrificing response.
